Andersen 200/400 Hinged Patio Doors and Hookbolt Checks

Check the documented Yale Assure hookbolt requirement for Andersen 200 and 400 Series hinged patio doors before relying on automatic locking.

Jump to a section

Turning a deadbolt is not always the complete locking sequence for a hinged patio door. The Yale Assure guide for Andersen patio and entry doors describes one specific 200/400 Series case that requires a separate manual hookbolt step.

What the Yale Assure guide says

The YRM276/YRM476 guide states that the Yale Assure Lock is “not fully functional” on Andersen 200 and 400 Series hinged patio doors because the patio-door hookbolts must be manually locked before Yale Assure can lock the patio door deadbolt.

For the named Andersen 200/400 hinged-patio path, manually lock the hookbolts before Yale Assure locks the deadbolt

This is a limitation for the named guide and door path. It does not prove that every Andersen patio door has hookbolts, that every 200/400 configuration operates the same way, or that every smart lock has the same behavior.

Scope boundary: the manual states a hookbolt prerequisite for its named 200/400 hinged-patio guide path; other configurations require their own instructions

Verify the installed door

Andersen 200 Series hinged doors may use single-point or three-point mechanisms depending on the configuration. Identify the exact series, handing, active or passive panel, and installed lock before applying a guide. Start with the Andersen Product ID workflow and match the unit to the current instructions.

The Yale guide also maps spacer choices to named door types and thicknesses. Do not transfer a spacer or preparation requirement from another series or lock. If your installed mechanism or current manual does not clearly match the documented 200/400 path, ask Andersen or a qualified door professional before relying on auto-lock or remote-lock behavior.

Check the whole door, not just the app status

For the specific guide path, the Yale Assure motor locks the deadbolt only after the hookbolts have been manually locked. An app or keypad result for the deadbolt cannot establish that a separate manual step has been completed. Check the full door operation against the exact instructions; if the sequence is uncertain, keep the compatibility result conditional. See Andersen’s listed Yale Assure options for the separate product-line and electronic checks.
