Bold Smart Cylinder on Multipoint and Core-Protected Doors

Check the Bold Smart Cylinder's stated multipoint, core-pull, cylinder-length, and weather conditions before choosing this path.

Jump to a section

Bold’s compatibility guidance describes two ways its Smart Cylinder may operate a multipoint system: turn the cylinder directly or use a separate lever mechanism. It names three-point and five-point systems as examples, but does not provide a model-by-model verdict for every multipoint lock. Confirm the actual mechanism and the required handle sequence before choosing this cylinder.

Two possible multipoint operating paths: turn the cylinder directly, or lift the handle before turning it; verify the sequence on the exact lock.

Check the operating path

Ask how the door locks when operated by hand:

  • Does turning the cylinder alone engage every locking point?
  • Must the handle be lifted before the cylinder turns?
  • Does another part of the system have to move before the door opens?
  • Does the exact Bold model support the required cylinder length and action?

If the mechanism requires a sequence that Bold’s current guidance does not identify, send the lock model and measurements to Bold or a qualified door specialist. The general statement about multipoint locks is not proof that a particular door will work.

Check the outside security fitting and cylinder length

Bold says its outside knob uses a slim 3 mm pin for core-pull protection. The same guidance warns that, at a 45 mm outer length, the SX-33 pin may be too short with a core-pull fitting and recommends the SX-35 for that configuration. Measure the installed cylinder and match the exact product version instead of choosing from the cylinder profile alone.

The product guidance also says:

  • The inside knob must be indoors or in a weather-protected area; the product is not waterproof.
  • Bold says the lock performs best at 10–40 °C (50–104 °F) and 10–60% humidity. Treat this as Bold-specific guidance and protect the inside knob from rain and extreme temperatures.
  • Bold does not offer half cylinders.

Bold-specific core-pull fitting illustration: 3 mm outside pin, SX-33 may be too short and SX-35 is recommended for the stated 45 mm outer-length configuration; keep the inside knob indoors or weather-protected.

These are Bold-specific limits. They do not establish that another smart cylinder will fit the same security fitting or multipoint mechanism.

Verify the complete door before purchase

Record the exact cylinder length, lock action, security fitting, interior exposure, and required manual key behavior. Compare each item with Bold’s current instructions. If the cylinder or handle does not move freely by hand, or if the door’s multipoint action differs from the documented route, pause for manufacturer or locksmith confirmation.
