Aqara Smart Gate Lock U500 Fit Checks

Compare an iron gate’s hole pattern, thickness, backset, and gap with the Smart Gate Lock U500’s published requirements.

Jump to a section

The Aqara Smart Gate Lock U500 is listed for iron gates with a specific hole pattern and mounting range on Aqara’s product page. Compare the installed gate with every published requirement before treating the product as a candidate; a gate’s material alone does not establish fit.

Check the stated dimensions

Check Aqara’s listed requirement
Door type Iron gate
Hole pattern Two 12 mm holes and one 50 mm hole
Door thickness 22–28 mm
Backset 40–45 mm
Door gap 3–7 mm
Door and frame Must be flush

These are published fit conditions to compare against the existing gate, not a drilling layout.

Aqara says different dimensions may require modification and that installation is not possible when the door and frame are not flush. These values describe the U500 product listing. They are not general dimensions for other gate locks.

Measure the existing holes, thickness, backset, gap, and frame relationship at the intended lock position. Do not drill or modify a gate based only on this summary. Confirm the exact model, current installation manual, and construction with Aqara or a qualified gate installer before making changes.

Treat exposure and operation as separate checks

Aqara lists an IP65 rating for the outer panel. That rating does not establish suitability for every weather exposure, gate construction, wiring arrangement, or installation orientation. Confirm the complete installation requirements for the actual site.

The outer-panel rating does not establish suitability of the complete installation.

The product page also lists Matter over Thread and names common smart-home ecosystems. It says a Matter Controller for the selected ecosystem and a Thread Border Router are required for Matter use. Check whether the specific features you want are supported by your controller and in your market; an ecosystem name alone does not establish feature parity.

If any dimension or flush condition does not match, keep the result unresolved until Aqara or a qualified installer confirms a supported path.
