Aqara Smart Rim Lock U500: Surface-Mount Fit Checks

Screen the exact U500 Rim model against a door and frame, including its surface-mounted mechanism, preparation, thickness, backset, gap, and regional package.

Jump to a section

The Smart Rim Lock U500 is a model-specific surface-mounted lock with an integrated mechanism. Its shared U500 name does not make it interchangeable with Aqara’s Gate or Glass versions. First match the label or package to Rim model DL-D19D, then use the measurements below as an initial screen for the door and frame. They do not establish that the complete assembly fits or operates safely on a particular entrance.

Illustrative mechanism view only: match the exact DL-D19D package, strike, and installation instructions for the door in hand.

Compare the door with Aqara’s published screen

Check Rim U500 product-page value What still needs confirmation
Preparation pattern Two 12 mm holes and one 50 mm hole Compare locations and the complete template with the exact installation instructions. The hole sizes alone do not establish that an existing lock or cutout pattern matches.
Door thickness 20–60 mm Check the actual door leaf and the manufacturer’s instructions for the selected kit.
Backset 40–45 mm Confirm the reference point and required mechanism placement in the installation drawing.
Door-to-frame gap 3–7 mm Check the gap where the lock engages and compare the entire frame and strike arrangement with the manual.
Door and frame relationship The product page specifies a flush door/frame relationship Inspect the relevant surface and frame relationship against the product’s diagram; a measurement elsewhere on the door is not a substitute.

A symbolic three-hole pattern and separate views of slab thickness, backset, door gap, and the flush frame relationship show where Rim U500 preparation checks apply

Schematic only, not a drilling layout: verify hole locations, dimensions, door/frame geometry, and the complete setup against the current Rim U500 instructions.

These are values published for the Rim U500 page. Aqara notes that a door outside its stated dimensions may require modification. That notice is not an instruction to enlarge holes or cut a door: the current model-specific manual and installation template must determine whether the existing preparation is acceptable. If they do not show your exact arrangement, treat it as unresolved and ask Aqara or a qualified installer before buying or changing the door.

Check the installed mechanism, not just the numbers

Record the existing lock type and model, the door material and handing, the edge and frame construction, the strike or strike box, trim, and the clear space on both sides of the door. Then compare those details with the exact Rim U500 installation materials. A rim lock, mortise lock, multipoint system, or deadbolt can have different internal parts and operating actions even when one measurement appears to match. This screening page does not approve conversion of another mechanism or establish compatibility with every UK-style entrance door.

A partly open entrance door shows hinge and swing clearance with insets for strike engagement, trim clearance, and separate inside and outside control faces

Inspection map only, not an operating sequence or fit verdict: follow the exact Rim U500 instructions to verify installed strike behavior and manual exit from each side.

Use Aqara’s Rim U500 support center to open the current product-specific manual and support material for the market and package in hand. Verify how the installed lock engages its strike, how it is operated from each side, and how the door can be opened manually in the situations covered by the instructions. If local entrance-door, fire, or egress requirements apply, have the installation checked by a qualified professional. Do not infer the exit sequence from photos or from another U500 model.

Confirm the exact market and smart-home path separately

The manufacturer inventory identifies DL-D19D; model identity by itself does not establish which regional package is being sold or whether it is available in a particular country. Check the code, package contents, current regional product listing, and included instructions for the actual offer before ordering. Do not assume that the same model name guarantees identical packaging or market support.

Physical preparation and electronic setup are separate questions. Aqara’s product information describes Matter-over-Thread support, which requires the compatible Matter controller and Thread border router for the chosen setup. Confirm the desired platform and current model-specific requirements against Aqara’s instructions. A controller or border router cannot resolve an uncertain hole pattern, frame relationship, or manual operation.

For the other U500 mechanisms, use the separate Gate U500 checks or Glass U500 checks. For the identity code table, see the smart-lock model-code lookup. If any physical, operational, or market detail remains unknown after checking the exact Rim instructions, keep the result conditional and get confirmation from Aqara or a qualified installer.
